Project 1: Regenerate

Create a new narrative approach to old essays.

The idea was to make it more appealing to newer generations. Since the text and formats were outdated, I decided to present it in a magazine layout to make it more visually engaging. I also drew inspiration from internet culture and turned the texts into something of a meme, poking fun at them. Each one had a unique approach."
Out of the three I created, the first one focused on legibility. I made a case for experimenting with the readability of the essay. Since it was a long text, I had to strike a balance to avoid tiring the readers.
The second was an interview, and the standout moment for me was how much the interviewer focused on himself rather than on the person being interviewed. I took that as a concept, exaggerating his importance. Additionally, after researching his social media, I noticed he only posted pictures of cats, so I incorporated that too, portraying the interviewer as a cat.
The last one didn’t offer much to work with, except that it was about rules. After looking into who wrote it—Jeffrey Keedy, who had recently posted psychedelic drawings—I decided to play into that chaotic, disorganized, and carefree vibe, essentially breaking all the rules.

Brief Cervecería Verdant

Image of the brief provided by Verdant Brewery, Falmouth.

For this one, I leveraged the extravagant name and used my love for typography to turn it into an illustration/type drawing. I made it visually striking and over the top, just like the name. We were limited by the color palette, so there wasn’t much we could do with that. The only limitations were the color palette, the beer name, the logo, and the tag with all the ingredients and legal information it had to include.

Project 3: Glass Cannon Volver

Exaggerate the branding tactics vapes use to target kids.

  • Type: Provocative Design
This project was inspired when I visited a vape shop and noticed all the colors, names, and the overall aesthetic. It made me question why it seemed so geared toward kids, even though it wasn't intended for them. Then I realized that a close relative of vapes had done this in the past—subtle branding aimed at kids, even when it was illegal for them to consume it. I'm talking about tobacco companies. So, I started researching and came up with the idea of creating my own branding aimed at kids, but in such an exaggerated way that it would also grab the attention of adults and make them realize how absurd the marketing tactics of vapes are.
So, I started producing some content about tobacco with a satirical tone. Then, I came across a vape that could change flavors with the motion of a revolver. That’s when the idea hit me: What if I made a vape revolver? Interestingly, you have to aim it at your mouth to smoke. This perfectly blended with the outcome I wanted. It would attract kids because it looks like a toy gun, but if an adult saw it, they’d definitely question why a kid is aiming a gun at their mouth—even if it’s just a toy. So, I created a prototype of the vape, making it functional, even though it’s just a prototype.

This project was centered around the number 7. I began by creating 7 stylized and artistic interpretations of the number, experimenting with various styles. Then, I decided to gather some fun facts related to the number 7. I also drew one piece a day for a week, capturing different things I could see or morph into a 7. For example, a port in Falmouth turned into a shape resembling the number. To bring all the content together, I compiled it into a publication.

Project 5: Shatered Hiragani

Create a new typeface

  • Tools: Indesign
  • Type: Typeface
For this project, the professors gave us a random theme to create a typeface that reflected it. My theme was 'Shattered.' After brainstorming, the image that kept popping up was plates shattering. So, I decided to create a font and place it on a plate, then break the plate to capture the type from the shards. The next step was selecting the base type for the project. I created my own stylish base type and added a straight line to serve as a reference in case the shattering affected legibility. I ended up creating multiple versions of each letter by taking photos of the fragments in different positions. From that process, I developed two typefaces: one stylish and legible, and one with the least legible version, based on the pictures I took of the shards.

Project 7: Music Posters

Create a visual response to music

Revista portada

Project Details

  • Client: Open to anyone interested.
  • Year: Ongoing
  • Tools: Indesign, Photoshop, Procreate
  • Type: Posters
PUBLICATION: I created a publication featuring the first 20 posters, compiling them into a format I also love working with—magazines. My goal is to produce more in the future as I continue creating posters. It’s a very simple magazine that includes the poster, along with information about the song, the artist, and some personal insights. My plan is to keep developing this project as long as I’m a designer.
POSTERS: For the posters I give myself complete creative freedom and I see where the song and my creativity takes me, and then I try to place it into a poster.

Project 8: Vertere

Create an ethical Brand

Portada Proyecto 8

Project Details

  • Client: University 2nd year Project
  • Year: 2022
  • Tools: Indesign, Photoshop, Sewing Machine
  • Type: Brand Developing
For this project, I drew inspiration from a presentation we had about the environment and how to design ethically. One fact that stood out was the highest recorded temperature (from 2022), so I decided to base the project around that number. It was in Sicily, and the temperature reached 48.8 degrees.
I decided to create a fashion brand, but instead of focusing on building a strong brand identity, I wanted to emphasize the issue itself. The idea was that the design style and the concept of the brand would make a name for itself, rather than relying on a specific name or logo. I aimed to create different drop concepts, such as featuring the highest temperature recorded that year, the location, and centering the drop around that place and temperature. I designed a conceptual T-shirt, some tags, and a small publication that would accompany each purchase. The booklet included visual responses and concepts exploring how global warming would impact Sicily, in this case. I also had a video interview with a Sicilian, but unfortunately, I lost the footage. My goal was to make the issue more personal—seeing who and what is affected—bringing the problem closer to home rather than keeping it distant.

Project 9: Graffiti Zine

For this project they asked us to make a poster for the event. But, we also had a day to experiment with different analog tools the teachers brought, to produce content to sell at the bookfair. I ended up making a Graffiti inspired Zine, plus a poster of a 7 in a graffiti style, that later on inspired me to make the 7 collection proyect. We could bring pictures but everything else is analog.

Project 10: Vive y deja Vivir

Make a publication of a personal development example

Portada Proyecto 9

Project Details

  • Client: University 1st year Project
  • Year: 2021
  • Tools: Indesign
  • Type: Publication
This was the first publication I made. We were asked to create it about a moment in our lives when we overcame hardship, which usually involves a deep personal experience. I embraced that and made it more visual by designing the cover using sandpaper, along with a dark, illustrative aesthetic for the interior. I took heavy inspiration from Hollow Knight, the game, as it was part of the story.
